On Friday, December 8th, 2006, our company had its Christmas party. Sure, it's a little early, but when you consider the fact that most of upper management taking the last two weeks of the month off... it's not unreasonable to have it early when everyone can make it.
I was actually surprised that my suggestion of Batman villains actually went through, but that's probably due to my excellent negotiation and persuasion skills. After all, I -do- work in PR. Heh. While I was really quite interested in the Two-Face look, the place we were renting costumes from already had a Two-Face (ugly as sin, but still... it was there), and while I'd already planned on having mine custom-made, I'd still be a face in a crowd. So I went with something edgy. Something wild. The Clown Prince of Crime... THE JOKER!
Joker: It's me, suger bums. Grisim: Oh, oh Jack, thank god, I'd heard you'd been.... Joker: FRIED, is that what you heard? You set me up over a woman, a WOMAN! You must be insane... don't bother. Grisim: Your life won't be worth spit! Joker: I've been dead once already, its very liberating, you should think of it as, therapy. Grisim: Jack, listen, maybe we can cut a deal. Joker: Jack? Jack is dead my friend, you can call me Joker. And as you can see, I'm a lot happier.
Needless to say, I was a hit at the party. Most of my friends didn't recognise me... sometimes I'd put my arm around their shoulder, grin at them, and watch them do double-takes as they try figure out who the touchy-feely stranger is. Then the inevitable burst of laughter as it all clicks into place. Fun! It made the three hours of prep-work all worth it... and the US$100 cost of making the outfit.
Take a look at the gallery here.
I stepped away from the 'classic' look, I suppose... with the bright yellow gold shirt and the checkered pants, but I think I was quite faithful to the look from 1989 Batman movie. The girl in picture 1 is my make-up artist, Debby... Mr. Incredible in picture 4 is our Vice President of Creative... most of the rest are my colleagues in Publicity and Marketing. You can see the Two-Face look we rented, as well as a lot of Riddlers and Catwomen.
All in all, the party was loads of fun! I didn't eat much (didn't want to ruin my make-up), but I drank plenty, took a lot of photos (even though I don't think most people will recognise me without the make-up!), and generally had a ball. It's too bad you guys can't see the whole outfit, complete with the two tails at the back, but... maybe Halloween!
